Brownie à la Mode
A rich, fudgy chocolate brownie served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, drizzled with chocolate sauce and sprinkled with crunchy nuts.
Ingredients
For the Brownies
200 g (7 oz) dark chocolate, chopped
120 g (½ cup) unsalted butter
150 g (¾ cup) sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
90 g (¾ cup) all-purpose flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
¼ tsp salt
For Topping
Vanilla ice cream (1 scoop per serving)
Chocolate sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Chopped nuts (almonds, peanuts, or walnuts)
Fresh strawberries (optional)
Instructions
1. Make the brownies
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Line an 8x8 inch (20x20 cm) pan with parchment paper.
Melt chocolate and butter together in a bowl over simmering water (or microwave in 20-sec bursts). Stir until smooth.
Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well.
Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold gently until just combined.
Pour batter into pan, bake for 20–25 minutes (edges set, center still slightly soft).
Cool, then cut into squares.
2. Assemble the dessert
Place a warm brownie square on a serving plate.
Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Drizzle with chocolate sauce.
Sprinkle with chopped nuts and garnish with a fresh strawberry.
Tips
For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake (don’t overcook).
Try caramel or coffee ice cream for a twist.
Serve immediately so the ice cream melts deliciously over the brownie.
